Creates detailed mechanical component, assembly, and enclosure drawings.

•  Creates mechanical specifications.
•  Works closely with electronic designers to formulate system-cooling solutions.
•  Selects materials and manufacturing processes for the mechanical parts.>
•  Determines appropriate method of manufacture (i.e. sheet metal fabrication and stamping, die-casting, aluminium extrusions, etc.).
•  Works with toolmakers and the project team to optimize material and process selection.
•  Coordinates with suppliers and vendors to purchase and expedite the delivery of key mechanical components.
•  Prepares drawings in support of intellectual property protection.
•  Estimates the scope of work for mechanical elements of projects to support project planning, and product costing.
•  Ensures assignments are within design, budget and schedule limitations.

•  Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering (advanced degree preferred)
•  Experience: 3 years in industry with experience in automotive component/system design, preferably in power electronics/electronic modules
•  Extensive SolidWorks design experience
•  Extensive experience with thermal modeling and mechanical analysis tools
•  Understanding of high volume manufacturing processes
•  Experience with automotive component design process (DFMEA, PPAP)
•  Extensive knowledge of material selection, their properties and sources
•  Knowledge of electrical principles and electronics is an asset
•  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
